Posted: Feb 08, 2013
Super Eagles midfielder-turned defender, Ogenyi Onazi has promised Nigerians that the team will meet their AFCON title expectation when they confront Stallions of Burkina Faso in the Africa Cup of Nations South Africa 2013 final on Sunday.
The Lazio of Italy youngster declared Thursday that the players are not unmindful of Nigerians support and expectation, saying the players will approach the final game with a mind-set for victory.
“We’re happy to have reached this stage of the competition despite our initial set-back”, Onazi said.
“We’re very happy the way Nigerians have stood behind and it’s our resolve not to disappoint them.
“At this stage we’re no longer thinking about the quarter final or semi final games. Our mind set is on the trophy and by the grace of God we'll come back home with it.
“We’ve put them behind us and are now focusing of the final game which is most important for us at the moment.
“Much as we still count on their support and prayers, I must also commend my mentor and proprietor of my former club Prophet T.B Joshua who has spiritually backed us with prayers especially as he speaks with our coach, Stephen Keshi, before every game assuring him of his constant prayers for the team”, Onazi stressed.
