Former NFF Secretary General Insists AFCON Trophy’s Nigeria Bound
Former Nigeria international Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has declared that the Super Eagles are now in the right frame of mind to deliver the Nations Cup trophy as demanded by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Reacting to yesterday’s comprehensive whitewash of the Malians in the 2013 AFCON semi final match, Ogunjobi said the team was motivated by President Goodluck Jonathan’s address to the players on the eve of the crucial game.
“Congratulations Nigeria, we’re in the Nations Cup final and I must say kudos to the players and their coaches”, Ogunjobi said.
“I must confess that what we saw yesterday was an improvement on what they did against Ivory Coast.
“And I think they were
psychologically prepared for the game based on their quarter final feat against CIV.
“Above all, they were inspired by the President’s phone conference with them prior to the match.
“NFF’s motivation to them cannot also be taken away and I can assure you that this team is psychologically prepared for the final on Sunday especially given President Jonathan’s likely presence in the final match”, Ogunjobi sounded.
The former Chairman of The NFF Technical Committee and current Osun FA Chairman commended the team for doing the nation proud.
“We are happy that they have continued to do the proud. We’re looking forward to the final on Sunday with the hope of taking the cup home especially with the presence of President Goodluck Jonathan”, Ogunjobi added.
