Babadidi Seals Venlo Four Year Deal

Gombe United Forward Departs Jan 13

Mustapha Babadidi has sealed a four year contract with Dutch Eredivisie side, VVV Venlo, Complete Sports can reveal today.

Babadidi was an early front runner for the Nigeria Premier League top scorers award last season but injury concern slowed his scoring pace down, paving way for Niger Tornadoes forward, Sibi Gwar to eventually win the crown with 16 goals.

Babadidi ended the 2011/2012 season with 10 goals but that proved enough to convince Venlo gaffer, Ton Lokhoff, that he has what it takes to blossom in the Eredivisie.

Babadidi confirmed Thursday that he will travel out on January 13 to begin his European career in the Dutch modest club that have fellow Nigerian Uche Nwofor on their payroll.

The deal was brokered by his Dutch agent, Tony Harris who also manages Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa.
“Everything about my Venlo deal has been completed. They have secured my international clearance from my Nigerian club, Gombe United”, Babadidi told Complete Sports Thursday.

“I will finally travel out to join them on January 13,that is on Sunday”, he added.

Babadidi joined Gombe United from Flash Flamingoes of Gombe during the mid-season of 2010/2011 season.

Before the end of the season, he cracked home five goals.

During the concluded 2011/2012 season, Babadidi scored 10 goals for the club that pride itself as Savannah Scorpions. He was invited to the Golden Eaglets camp by Coach Manu Garba but his invitation raised doubts for age related reasons before he was eventually dropped.
