Eneramo, Uche, Utaka, Moses fire blanks; Stephen gets 11th yellow card of season
ENGLAND
John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses (Chelsea): Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi was not involved in Chelsea's 8-0 home win over Aston Villa at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday as he served the last of his three-match ban following a racial spat involving referee Mike Clattenburg. Mikel has so far played 13 league games for Chelsea this season.
Meanwhile, his compatriot, Victor Moses played the entire duration of the game which was his ninth of the season. He has scored four goals in all competitions for the Blues since joining in the summer. Both players have been listed in the provisional squad for the forthcoming African Nations Cup in South Africa.
Victor Anichebe (Everton):Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe scored his third goal of the season for Everton in the EPL on Saturday when he scored his team's first goal in the 64th minute as Everton defeated West Ham United 2-1 away at the Bolyn Ground. Anichebe who has been hampered by injury woes this season resulting in him not getting a look-in by Eagles coach Stephen Keshi in his provisional squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations has now played seven league games and chalked up 318 minutes of playing time thus far.
Shola Ameobi (Newcastle United): One-cap Super Eagles striker Shola Ameobi was Newcastle United's hero on Saturday evening as he scored the Toons' vital and winning goal against relegation battlers QPR in the 81st minute, 20 minutes after coming on to replace Papis Cisse at King James' Park. The game was the 11th of the season for the Kabba, Kogi State born striker who has been included in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup. Shola was however yellow-carded in the 94th minute (four minutes after regulation time). It was Ameobi's third yellow card of the season. He has played a total of 318 minutes in the Premier League. Shola's younger brother, Sammy, was an unused substitute.
Osaze Odemwingie (West Brom):West Brom defeated high-flying Norwich City 2-1 at home on Saturday and manager Steve Clarke handed Osaze Odemwingie a starting place in the Baggies against the Canaries.
Odemwingie who was dropped from the Super Eagles side for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa played for 90 minutes. It was the 15th game of the season for the former Lille and Lokomotiv Moscow forward. Odemwingie has scored four goals in his matches and has made 11 starts. The Nigerian has played 962 minutes in total so far this season.
Danny Shittu (Milwall):Super Eagles defender Danny Shittu played for 90 minutes on Saturday in Milwall's 2-1 home loss to Barnsley at The Den. The game was Shittu's 19th of the season in the npower Championship. The big centre-back has started in 18 of those games and has played a total of 1,588 minutes. Shittu and his defensive partners were at fault for Barnsley's winning goal as the victors beat an offside trap.
Seyi Olofinjana, Sone Aluko (Hull City): Forgotten Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana was an unused substitute on Saturday for Hull City as they grabbed a 2-1 win over Derby County. The victory hauls The Tigers to the second position on the npower Championship table with 44 points. Npower Championship Player of the Month for the month of November, Sone Aluko, was understandably out of the game- no thanks to an injury setback.
Efe Sodje (Bury Town)
Former Super Eagles defender Efetobore Sodje was missing in Bury Town's 2-2 draw at home against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday. Bury had lost four consecutive times coming into this fixture but the team's backline lacked the toughness which Sodje would have provided.
Magnus Okuonghae (Colchester United): Colchester United's defender Magnus Okunonghae was an unused substitute for his side on Saturday as Colchester United lost 1-0 to Walsall away at the Banks Stadium. Nigerian-born Briton, Jabo Ibehre, played for Colchester but there was no place for Tosin Olufemi against the West Midlands.
SPAIN
Ike Uche (Villarreal): Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche played for 90 minutes on Thursday in Villarreal's 0-0 away draw against Xerez. Uche who was as expected named in the Eagles' provisional team for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup has now played 17 matches for the Yellow Submarine in the Segunda Liga. Uche has scored six goals thus far this season.
Nosa Igiebor (Real Betis): Super Eagles midfielder Nosa Igiebor was not listed on Saturday in Real Betis' 2-1 home loss to Mallorca at the Estadio Benito that produced four yellow cards to both teams. Igiebor, a former U-23 Eagles star, has played eight games this season for Betis but he is yet to register his name on scorers' sheet in the La Liga.
Odion Ighalo(Granada): Former U-23 Eagles striker Jude Odion Ighalo played all 90 minutes on Saturday in Granada's 2-1 away win over Osasuna at the Eastadio El Sadar. It was Ighalo's eighth game of the season. Ighalo is yet to score in 451 minutes of football this season.
Chrisantus Macaulay (Las Palmas): Former Golden Eaglets striker , Chrisantus Macaulay, replaced Javi Guerrero in the 66th minute in Las Palmas' 2-0 home win over Mirandes on Saturday. The Korea 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup highest goal scorer played what was his 18th game of the season in the Segunda Liga over the weekend. The former FC Abuja starlet has five goals to his credit this season. He has made 13 starts, yellow-carded twice and played a total of 701 minutes.
Ramon Azeez (Almeria): Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eaglets midfielder Ramon Azeez was not listed in Almeria's 1-0 home loss to Alcorcon on Saturday. It was Almeria's third consecutive loss of the season. Azeez has played just twice for his club this season.
Sunday Stephen (Numancia): One-cap Super Eagles defensive midfielder Sunday Stephen received his 11th yellow card of the season on Saturday in Numancia's 3-1 away win over Herecules. 'Oryan' played for 90 minutes in the game. The former Spain's U-20 World Cup star who shone at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada was booked in the 83rd minute . Stephen has thus played 17 Segunda Liga matches for Numancia this season with one goal to show for it. He was yellow-carded in the 83rd minute of the game.
FRANCE
John Utaka (Montpellier): Super Eagles forward John Chukwudi Utaka who was left out of the Super Eagles provisional squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations played for 90 minutes on Saturday as Montpellier lost 4-1 away to Lille away at the Grand Stade Metropole. Deployed again on the left side of Montpellier's attack, Utaka created a lot of chances for his teammates in the game which was his 14th of the season. The experienced striker cum winger has scored three goals in the Ligue 1 this season and has played a total of 972 minutes for La Paillade.
Onyekachi Apam (Rennes): Onyekachi Apam who has overcome an injury setback that saw him missing many games for his club played for 90 minutes on Saturday as Rennes thumped Ajaccio 4-2 away at Stade Francois Coty. It was the sixth Ligue 1 game of the season for the former Flying Eagles defender. The tough-tackling defender has played a total of 409 minutes this season for the French team.
Simon Zenke (Nancy): Former Flying Eagles striker Simon Zenke was not listed in Nancy's 4-2 defeat in the hands of Bastia on Saturday. Zenke has played nine times for the Ligue 1 side this season and has scored once for the team occupying the last place on the bottom of the log.
HOLLAND
Nwofor Uche (VVV Venlo): Former Flying Eagles striker Uche Nwofor replaced Robert Cullen in the 66th minute in Venlo’s 4-2 home loss to Roda JC on Sunday. He has scored three goals in 14 appearances.
Oluwafemi Ajilore (Groningen): Super Eagles midfielder Oluwafemi Ajilore came on as an 57th minute substitute for Groningen as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Feyenoord. The former Midtjylland and Brondby player has so far made nine appearances.
Kenneth Omeruo (ADO DEN Haag): Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo who played at right back in the last two games for his club, moved back to the centre-back as ADO Den Haag defeated NEC Breda 2-0 at ADO's Kyocera Stadion. Omeruo who has been listed in the Super Eagles' provisional squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations has now played 17 Eredevisie games for his on-loan club. He has made 16 starts and has been yellow-carded five times this season.
SCOTLAND
Efe Ambrose, Rabiu Ibrahim(Celtic): Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose played for 90 minutes on Saturday in Celtic's 4-0 destruction of Ross County. However, there was no place for Rabiu Ibrahim, who was listed by Stephen Keshi for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup close camping in Faro, Portugal. The game was Ambrose's 13th SPL game of the season. He has made 11 starts, scored once and bagged two yellow cards in the process.
BELGIUM
Derick Ogbu(OH Leuven): Nigeria's Derick Chuka Ogbu led OH Leuven's attack but fired blanks on Saturday in their 2-2 draw at home against Lierse. Ogbu was replaced by Cameroon's Christian Pouga in the 46th minute. He has scored four goals so far in 1,433 minutes of club football and has made 18 starts out of 21 Jupiler games.
TURKEY
Joseph Yobo(Fenerbahce): Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo played for 90 minutes on Saturday in Fenerbahce's 3-1 loss at home to Karabukspor. The game was Yobo's 13th game of the season.
Kalu Uche (Kasimpasa): Super Eagles midfielder, Kalu Uche played for 90 minutes on Saturday in Kasimpasa's 2-0 home loss to Istanbul BB. Uche has played 17 league games and scored nine goals thus far. Despite his good show so far this season, he was snubbed by Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi in his 32-man provisional list for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Michael Eneramo (Sivasspor): Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo fired blanks in Sivasspor's 3-1 home win to Elazg spor on Sunday. The former Esperance of Tunisia captain has played 15 times this season scoring five goals thus far.
Nduka Ozokwo (Mersin Idmanyurdu): Former Flying Eagles captain Nduka Ozokwo replaced Murat Ceylan in the stoppage time of Mersin Idmanyurdu 2-1 loss away to Gaziantepspor on Sunday. It was Ozokwo's 14th game of the season for his side.
Ekigho Ehiosun (Genclerbirligi): Nigerian striker Ekigo Ehiosun played his fourth game of the season for Genclerbirligi in their goalless draw away to Bursaspor on Sunday. He is yet to score this term for his team.
