Uche, Zenke Also On Fire For Clubs; Mikel, Obiora See Yellow
ENGLAND
John Mikel Obi; Victor Moses (Chelsea): Super Eagles midfielder John Obi Mikel played the entire duration of Chelsea’s 1-1 home draw against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. It was Mikel’s 11th start of the current season for Roberto Di Matteo side.
His compatriot Victor Moses replaced Blues rave of the moment Oscar Emboaba in the 79th minute of the encounter. It’s his 5th appearance for the Blues this summer.
Shola and Sammy Ameobi (Newcastle United): Super Eagles invitee Shola Ameobi replaced Papis Demba Cisse at half time as Newcastle lost by a lone goal to WestHam on Sunday.
His younger brother Sammy who has been called up to the England U-21 team was not listed for the encounter. Shola has so far played six games for the Magpies while Sammy has played twice in the EPL this term.
Osaze Odemwingie(West Brom): Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie was a 69th minute substitute in place of Shane Long on Saturday in West Brom’s 2-1 away win over Wigan Athlletic at the DW Stadium.
The striker who scored a brace for the Baggies last week Monday against Southampton has thus played eight times in the EPL this season with three goals to his credit.
Sone Aluko, Seyi Olofinjana (Hull City): Super Eagles fringe winger Omatsone Aluko who has scored six goals prior to Saturday’s game between Hull City and Cardiff City at the latter’s City Stadium was unable to extend his goal return but was impressive in the Tigers’ 2-1 away loss. The game was Aluko’s 16th of the season. Forgotten Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana was an unused sub in the game.
Danny Shittu (Milwall): Out-of-favour Eagles defender Danny Shittu was in action for 90 minutes on Saturday at The Den Stadium where they piped Derby County 2-1. The game was Shittu’s 12th of the campaign.
Dickson Etuhu(Blackburn Rovers): Dickson Etuhu played his 15th npower Championship game of the season on Saturday as Blackburn Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City at Ewood Park. Etuhu has one goal to his credit and has been yellow-carded three times.
Magnus Okunoghae (Colchester United): Magnus Okunghae was yellow-carded in the 62nd minute as his League One side Colchester suffered a 3-2 away loss over Crewe Alexander. The defender played for 90 minutes in the game which was his 17th of the season. He has scored twice and yellow-carded thrice this season.
SCOTLAND
Efe Ambrose, Rabiu Ibrahim (Celtic): Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose played for 84 minutes in Celtic’s 1-1 home draw against St Johnstone at the at Celtic Park on Sunday. Ambrose who was replaced by McGeouch has so far played 11 games for the Scottish champions since joining them last summer. His compatriot Rabiu Ibrahim is yet to feature for the club this term.
GERMANY
Anthony Ujah (Cologne): Former U-23 player Anthony Ujah played for 90 minutes on Saturday against MSV Duisburg at the RheinEnergie Stadium aaas both sides settled for a goalless draw. The player on loan from Mainz 05 has now played nine games for the Bundesliga 2 side. Ujah has scored three goals this season.
Kingsley Onuegbu (Sandhausen): Nigeria’s Kingsley Onuegbu who is on loan from Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga was an unused substitute in Sandhausen’s 1-6 heavy defeat suffered against a rampant Hertha Berlin on Saturday. The forward has played eight games this season and has scored once.
Chinedu Obasi (Schalke): Super Eagles winger Chinedu Obasi was still missing through injury as his Gelsenkirchen side romped to a 2-1 home win over Weder Bremen on Saturday. The former Flying Eagles star has played just twice this season.
ITALY
Osaretein Ebagua (Varese), Nwankwo Obiora (Padova): Nigeria’s Osaretein Ebagua was not listed in Varese’s 3-0 home win over Padova on Saturday at the Stadio Franco Ossola.
Ebagua has now played 11 times in the Serie B this season. Super Eagles midfielder Nwankwo Obiora was booked in the 37th minute of the game. The former U-23 star was substituted at the stroke of half time. It was sixth game of the season in the Serie B.
Onazi Ogenyi (Lazio): Former youth international Onazi Ogenyi was an unused substitute in Lazio’s 3-2 win over Roma on Sunday. He has made two Serie A appearances for Lazio. Onazi who has been invited for the Super Eagles’ international friendly against Venezuela on Wednesday has so far made the substitute’s bench on nine occassions.
SPAIN
Nosa Igiebor (Real Betis), Odion Ighalo (Granada): Super Eagles midfielder played for just seven minutes on Saturday in Real Betis’ 1-2 home loss at the Estadio Benito against Granada.
Igiebor rose from the bench to replace Juan Carlos in the 83rd minute. It was Igiebor’s fifth game of the season. He is yet to score a goal for his new team. Granada’s Odion Ighalo was an unused sub. The former Dream Team V striker has played just thrice this season.
FRANCE
Onyekachi Apam (Rennes), Simon Zenke (Nancy): Super Eagles injury-prone centre-back Onyekachi Apam was an unused sub in Rennes’ 3-1 away win over Nancy on Saturday. Former Flying Eagles striker Simon Zenke scored Nancy’s consolation goal in the 50th minute. It was his second goal of the season in Ligue 1 for the Kaduna-born forward. He was in action for all 90 minutes.
HOLLAND
Uche Nwofor(VVV Venlo): Former Flying Eagles and Enugu Rangers striker Uche Nwofor played for just one minute on Saturday as VVV Venlo won their second consecutive game of the season in a 4-1 bashing of Willem II.
It was his 10th Eredivisie game of the season in which he has scored thrice. The Colombia 2011 U-20 World Cup star replaced Robert Cullen in the 89th minute.
TURKEY
Kalu Uche(Kasimpasa): Super Eagles creative midfielder Kalu Uche scored Kasimpasa’s goal, a 90th minute penalty at home against Antalyaspor at the Recep Tayyip Stadium in a game that ended 1-1. The Nigerian star has now played eleven games this season and scored six times.
Michael Eneramo (Sivasspor): Michael Eneramo fired blanks in Sivasspor’s 1-0 home win home over Eskiserhirspor at the 4 Eylul Stadium. He has scored four goals this season in 12 games.
Ekigho Ehiosun (Gençlerbirligi): Super Eagles striker Ekigho Ehiosun was an unused substitute in Gençlerbirligi’s 3-2 away win over Gaziantepspor on Sunday. The former Samsunspor striker has made two appearances in the club’s 11 league games in the league.
Nduka Ozokwo (Mersin Idmayurdu): Former Flying Eagles player Nduka Ozorkwo played for the entire duration of in his side’s 1-1 home draw against league leaders Galatasaray at the Tevfik Gur stadium on Sunday. Ozorkwo has so far played 11 games for the relegation battlers.
BELGIUM
Michael Uchebo (Cercle Brugge): Former Flying Eagles and Enugu Rangers striker Michael Okechukwu Uchebo played for just 17 minutes on Saturday when he replaced goal scorer, Rudy, in the 73rd minute as Cercle Brugge were held to a 2-2 draw by Gent at the Jan Breydelstadion.
It was Uchebo’s 13th Jupiler game of the season. He is yet to score a goal this season.
Derick Ogbu(OH Leauven): Nigeria’s Derick Chuka Ogbu played for 77 minutes before he was substituted by Zimbabwe striker Obvious Karuru in the game which was his 15th league appearance. Ogbu has scored four goals so far this season.
UKRAINE
Brown Ideye, Haruna Lukman, Taye Taiwo, Yusuf Ayila (Dynamo Kiev): Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye grabbed a brace on Saturday in ten minutes when he helped Dynamo Kiev to a 5-0 win over Metalurh Zaporizliya.
Ideye scored in the 64th and 74th minutes of the game.
Ideye’s first goal was assisted by Eagles star, Haruna Lukman, who also assisted the 87th minute strike by Andriy Yarmolenko. Ideye was in action for 90 minutes while Lukman replaced Niko Kranjkar in the 63rd minute of the game.
It was Ideye’s 15th league game of the season. Both goals ensures he has scored 10 goals this season. There was no place for Taye Taiwo (suspended) and Yusuf Ayila.
Michael Odibe (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk): One-cap Super Eagles defender Michael Odibe was an unused substitute for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in their goalles draw against Illichivets. Odibe who was in action last Thursday in the Europa league where they lost 4-2 to Napoli has scored 1 goal in 11 appearances for the club.
Michael Babatunde (Kryvbas): Former U-23 forward, was not in action for Kryvbas in their 6-0 drubbing suffered in the hands of Volyn on Saturday. Babatunde has played six games thus far but has not scored a goal.
RUSSIA
Ahmed Musa(CSKA Moscow): Super Eagles speedster Ahmed Musa grabbed a brace on Saturday for his Russian team, CSKA Moscow in the club’s 3-1 away win over Kuban Krasnoder.
Musa has now scored seven goals this season in 14 Russian Premier League games. The former Kano Pillars winger has played a total of 1,124 minutes of club football and has been yellow-carded once thus far.
Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow): Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike was not listed for action for Spartak Moscow in their 2-0 home win over Krasnodar the Kazar stadium. The former Karabukspor player has scored four goals in 11 appearances.
Obinna Nsofor (Lokomotiv Moscow): Super Eagles forward Victor Obinna Nsofor played his 13th game of the season for Locomotiv Moscow as they battled out a 1-1 home draw against Anzhi Makhachkala on Sunday. The winger replaced Alex Samedov at half time and has scored one goal thus far. He has started in seven of those games.
