Former Green Eagles winger, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka MON has said Super Eagles triumph in Sunday’s Nations Cup final in South Africa is a clear indication that Nigerian are capable of managing their own affairs.
Amiesimaka who was part of the Green Eagles squad that won the 1980 edition of the competition in Lagos said the achievement of Keshi even in the face of harsh criticisms is a clear conviction of his belief in Nigerian coaches.
The former Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice added that Keshi has brought a good measure of respect for his Nigerian coaching colleagues.
“This team played like a typical Nigerian team. They were using the flanks and the result has shown”, Amiesimaka, a former chairman of Sharks football club of Port Harcourt said.
“I’ve said it times without number that Nigerian coaches are good enough to handle our national teams.
“I believe that with support and encouragement our coaches will always excel. A situation where you contract foreign coaches, pay them huge amount of dollars and provide every thing for them while you deny our own coaches such luxuries amount to belittling what we have.
“And I’m happy that Keshi, despite all criticisms has won the cup and of course this is good for him as a coach and his colleagues”, Amiesimaka sounded.
